Senior Healthcare Analyst

 

Job Description:

The Senior Healthcare Analyst will be a key member of the Healthcare Analytics Team. The initial responsibilities of the position will be modeling and analyzing the financial impact of the managed care hospital contracts and to develop revenue/cash flow enhancement solutions for our clients. Specifically the position will be responsible for the following:

  • Model and analyze the financial strategy for managed care contract negotiations (new and renegotiation of existing), including reimbursement methodology and level, by hospital, physician practice and system-wide.
  • Maintain the contract management system as it pertains to accuracy of contract and data loads used for modeling and contract compliance activities.
  • Assist in developing new technologies to improve the efficiency and capabilities of the department by creating a platform to enable an analytics driven decision support system for our clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of analytical programs to enhance the revenue/cash flow for our hospital managed care clients.
  • Establish efficient transactional data capture methods.
  • Evaluate and assist in the development of the proprietary contract analytical system including decision support logic, contract compliance algorithms and downstream analytical support services.
  • Develop analytical models, perform contract loading & maintenance, and data mining reports.

 

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare or related field. MBA preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with provider or payer experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and analytical experience in contract negotiations including the ability to recommend methodologies for maximizing and enhancing contract revenue.
  • Expertise in hospital and physician reimbursement methodologies, including Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG), Resource Based Relative Value Scale (RBRVS), per diems, CMS Ambulatory Payment Classification Grouping (APC), CMS Ambulatory Surgery Center Groupers (ASC), and percentage of charge.
  • Must have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

 

Skills:

Experience working with contract management/modeling tools highly desired. Must be expert in Microsoft Excel/Access 2007/2010 and have experience with databases, including downloading data files and querying data.

 

Knowledge:

Must have current knowledge of the principles and techniques of financial and economic analysis. Must have current knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, including but not limited to DRG’s, APC’s and common fee schedules.
